FORECASTING
Astrological forecasting is based on centuries of observation and correlation between the cycles of planets and human events. What astrology gives us is not a pattern of fate but more information. This information gives us the ability to make wiser choices and clearer decisions.
The most commonly used predictive techniques in astrology are transits, progressions, solar arc directions, solar/lunar returns and eclipses/lunations.
Planets in Transit by Robert Hand is highly recommended. It is a wonderful reference work describing every planetary transit by house and aspect.
I enjoyed reading and learning from Bernadette Brady's The Eagle and the Lark. This book includes transits, progressions, and eclipses.
Here's some other good books on predictive astrology:
Secondary Progressions : Time to Remember by Nancy Anne Hastings
The Only Way to Learn about Tomorrow by Marion March and Joan McEvers
Prediction in Astrology by Noel Tyl (Llewellyn Publications) This books seems to be out of print but you might want to check with your local metaphysical or used bookstore or with the publisher.
One of the best ways to learn about astrological forecasting is to get your own horoscope consultation each year from a professional astrologer. For the serious student it can be equivalent to a master class. At astrology conferences many of the speakers also set aside time for appointments. (For conference info check out the links to NCGR & ISAR here). For many years, I went to my own teacher Goswami Kriyananda for astrological forecasts which were always enlightening. The Temple of Kriya Yoga continues to offer consultations by its staff and, of course, so do I.
