Babaji Festival  - Temple of Kriya Yoga - April 2000

Once upon a Sufi time, there lived a wise fool named Nasrudin.  He advertised himself as a most stupendous speaker who might very well help the seeker find enlightenment.  He sold tickets to his talk on "Knowledge."

Everyone awaited his arrival.  There was whispering and an air of great excitement.  Nasrudin arrived and strode up to the podium.  A sense of awe filled the room and a deep silence.

Nasrudin spoke to the crowd with a question.  "Do you know what I'm going to speak of?"

The group was a bit flustered and said "No we do not know."

Nasrudin said "There is no use my speaking to those who do not even know what I am going to speak of!"  And he left.

The group was quite perplexed, throwing arrows of guilt here and there.  A committee got together and went to Nasrudin and asked him to please come back and lecture there once more the following week.

The night of the new lecture arrived along with great anticipation!  Nasrudin strode up to the platform and started right in with the question:  "Do you know what I'm going to speak of?"

This time the gathering was very hearty with a big enthusiastic, "YES!"

Nasrudin said, "In that case there is no need for a lecture" and he left.

By this time the poor souls were very confused and tried to come up with a plan.  They sent the committee to persuade him to return, begging him that they might at long last hear his thoughts on 'Knowledge.'

The next week, the crowd was ready.  Nasrudin asked "Do you know what I'm going to speak of?"

Half the group answered "YES!"  Half the group answered "NO!"

Nasrudin, without missing a beat said, "In that case, those who know should tell those who do not know."  And he swiftly left the room.
