PROFESSIONAL BIO

Marcia Sacks is a professional astrologer and tarot card reader with over 20 years experience.  She has studied astrology, yoga, meditation and metaphysics with Goswami Kriyananda of the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago and was ordained Swami K. Adinadananda in 1979 after seminary graduation.  She is a member of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (Level III certification), teaches classes and workshops throughout the Chicago area, and has written articles for Mountain Astrologer, The Monthly Aspectarian, and Mercury Hour.
 
 

I grew up on Chicago's southeast side in the 1950s & 60s in a house with my mom, dad, brother and sister.  That younger incarnation of me spent her time playing with friends, climbing the backyard maple, reading books, writing poems and stories and having a regular life.  Attended Bowen High School and  then to University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana in the late sixties. Came back to Chicago just at the right time to meet my husband Rich at a party given by friends we had in common.  He knew how to read horoscopes and turned me on to astrology. He eventually went on to work in the computer world and I ended up the professional astrologer.

We went on a spiritual quest together and through a series of karmic twists and turns found our way to the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago. Goswami Kriyananda became my guru. Along with being an excellent teacher of meditation and yoga philosophy, he was also one of the Chicago area's top astrologers.  I entered the seminary there and after three years of study was ordained "Swami K. Adinadananda" in 1979.  Rich and I have both continued to take classes there with Kriyanandaji over the past 20 years.

These days, we live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, with our two sons, Mike and David, and our dog, Pepper.  In my everday life, I read horoscopes and tarot cards for my clients, teach classes in meditation and metaphysics, and write new-age type articles.  I enjoy reading science fiction & fantasy,  and "surfing the 'net" where one good link leads to another.  (Family pics)
