There are two ways to handle these powerful times. One is simply to observe what happens in your life (or in world news) at the time (a day or two before and after) the eclipse, staying as peaceful, philosophical and balanced as possible. The other is to plan to use the eclipse energy for positive change. When you've determined what house the eclipse falls in or what aspects it forms to your natal chart, take some time to reflect on what the best use of that energy could be. Visualize it and affirm it before hand. Visualize and affirm your goals and positive intentions at the moment of the eclipse if possible. DECEMBER 14, 2001 - SOLAR ECLIPSE
Sagittarius energy is upbeat and enthusiastic, perfect for the holiday season both for social events and gift giving. Sagittarius also rules philosophy, so this eclipse is also good for contemplating life's deeper meaning. As part of the line-up of five planets in Sagittarius, Venus is making a conjunction to Pluto. The keyword for this aspect is "temptation." This can relate to holiday shopping sprees as well as sudden and compelling (but not necessarily wise) romances. DECEMBER 21, 2001 - WINTER SOLSTICE - 1:22 PM CST The shortest day of the year, the winter solstice, as the Sun enters Capricorn, is another day symbolic of new beginnings, much more than New Year's day which has no astrological correlation. DECEMBER 30, 2001 - LUNAR ECLIPSE - 8 CANCER 48 - 4:40 AM CST This lunar eclipse is linked to the two benefics Jupiter and Venus. Even the oppositional pull between home (Moon in Cancer) and work (Sun in Capricorn) indicates choices with pleasant and profitable outcomes. Here are two good prosperity affirmations for this lunar eclipse: Every day in every way I am more and more open and receptive to all the good and abundance in the Universe. I gratefully accept Life's gifts of wealth and prosperity, which flow into my life in ways that are balanced and harmonious. ***** Many blessings for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!!! I'm a big fan of planning and goals but I'm not really big on New Years resolutions. Read why in my article "Resolved: To Be Happy" (published, January 1998 in The Monthly Aspectarian, Chicago's New Age Magazine): http://www.lightworks.com/MonthlyAspectarian/1998/January/0198-15.htm *****

****************************************************************************** There has been an ongoing debate among
astrologers regarding the chart of the United States. Many people
use July 4, 1776 with various times. Others suggest the signing of the
Articles of Confederation were the real start of the U.S. Lois Rodden's

One of my clients asked if I would have a beginner's section in the newsletter, so this is the first installment of the Beginner's Corner with tips and resources for your study of astrology. Tips: 1. Get a copy of your own chart (if you are my astrology client and would like a copy of your horoscope wheel, just email or give me a call). Otherwise, there are several places to get free calculations on the 'net: http://alabe.com/
2. Learn to read the glyphs -- the astrological symbols for the signs and planets. This site shows the glyphs and gives some key words for the planets: http://www.north-node.com/planets/index.html 3. Find books at the library or bookstore with interpretations and read all about yourself. Always use your own best judgment. You don't have to believe everything that's written in an astrology book. Besides, astrology books and computer generated astrology readings only give you the pieces. They are a learning tool. As you become a more advanced student, you will learn how to put all the pieces together. Here's two more websites for beginning the study of astrology: http://www.oceanjewel.com/astrology/
