Although May 25th
was the last of the exact oppositions of Saturn and Pluto, this Solar Eclipse
conjuncts Saturn and opposes Pluto to trigger it once again forming a huge
lineup of planets in the Gemini-Sagittarius
The Saturn-Pluto opposition is almost over. Several clients have called in the past week or so deeply depressed and discouraged. One of the best things astrology can tell you is that these difficult cycles don't last forever. By the end of June, many of the situations that have made you feel like you're spinning your wheels will begin to dissipate. For those of you who have continued to work hard over the last year and a half despite scarce results, the second half of 2002 will bring the rewards. JUNE 21 - SUMMER SOLSTICE - 8:25 AM CDT The balance symbolized by the equal hours of day and night, makes the Summer Solstice an excellent time for beginning a new meditation practice. JUNE 24, 2002 - LUNAR ECLIPSE - 3 CAPRICORN 11 - 4:42 PM CDT Wait a minute! Didn't we have a lunar eclipse last month? Yes. And we have one again. Just part of the moon's natural orbit which occasionally provides us with two partial eclipses rather than one total one. This eclipse emphasizes the Capricorn/Cancer polarity, the pull between family issues and work responsibilities. The Moon conjunct Chiron may offer opportunities for healing via reflection on forgiving and letting go of the past. *****

CYCLES Astrology is all about cycles. These cycles are defined by the astronomical movement of the planets as viewed from earth. The sun moves through the twelve signs of the zodiac each year. The moon moves through the twelve signs of the zodiac every 28 days. Saturn's cycle is 28 years. The Uranus cycle is over 80 years. The point of know the cycles is that you can calculate them years, decades or centuries in advance. This is the basis of predictive astrology. Using predictive astrology for yourself means knowing the cycles -- not just what is approaching but to look back at the patterns of the past. Combining your personal history with the planetary cycles will deepen your knowledge of astrology. There are two ways to do this. The first is to make a list of all the important events in your life and the dates (for example, meeting your spouse and marriage date, births of children, beginning a new job and/or the date you got laid off, deaths in the family, great successes, significant illnesses). Then check the transits and progressions to your natal chart for those dates. The other way is to take the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) and, using an ephemeris or your astrology program, go back and list all the hard aspects (conjunction, square & opposition) and think about your past, what occurred around those dates. Here's an example: Normally, an astrologer might predict lack of money when transiting Saturn squares natal Venus. A college student I was talking to recently noted that every time Saturn squared his Venus he got a new job. He received money (Venus) for time (Saturn) by applying energy (square). When he was finishing his semester and needed a summer job, he was able to predict he would find something because Saturn was squaring Venus again (and he did!). The whole point of knowing your cycles from the past, is to be prepared for the future. When we can see a cycle approaching and understand the type of situations that occurred in the past, we can make some wise decisions about using or handling that energy. As the saying goes, "Those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." If you know you get in a big fight with family every time transiting Mars conjuncts natal Moon, you can look ahead to the next one and begin to visualize yourself in the same situation but being surrounded by an aura of peace (or just simply make a firm decision not to respond no matter how many times 'the fight button' is pushed). Forecasting in astrology is not about making amazing predictions. It's about knowing yourself and creating a more positive and successful future.
