Practical Guidance with a Spiritual
Perspective
******************************************************************************
* Forecast
****************************************************************************** The nature of a new or full moon is considerably altered if it makes a conjunction or hard aspect to an outer planet. Both this upcoming new moon and full moon have "challenging" conjunctions. Because the new moon is conjunct Saturn in Gemini and the Full Moon conjunct Pluto in Sagittarius, you might get some insight on how the upcoming Saturn opposed Pluto on August 5th will affect you. The types of things you would want to especially note in your journal a few days on either side of those lunations would be your emotions and mood, major source of conflict with others around you, goals you feel personally motivated to set for yourself, and duties you are required to perform by others or by life circumstances. The themes brought up by the lunations might be repeated across the summer as Saturn and Pluto pull into closer alignment. NEW MOON - May 22, 2001 - 2 Gemini 03 - 9:46 p.m. CDT I once heard this advice for New Moon conjunct Saturn: "Don't volunteer for anything." I think it's good advice that applies whether it's transit to transit (as in this New Moon) or transit to natal. Often others ask you to do something that seems simple but ends up taking a lot of time (Saturn rules Time). My equivalents: If someone asks you to help with something that will take a minute, it will take an hour. If they say "an hour," it will probably take all day. If they say "a day," figure about a week. That information can help you decide if you really want to volunteer after all. Now, obviously, if your boss or a loved one asks, maybe you ought to do it. But it's not really a good time for new beginnings, as we usually hope from a New Moon. Projects that are started at this New Moon will take extra time and extra effort to get going. If you want to make the argument that the lineup is trining Neptune at 8 degrees Aquarius (the Saturn trine Neptune will be exact on June 25th), then you could say that maybe it's a positive time for spiritual discipline or combining the inspirational with the practical. May 29 - Uranus Retrograde - 24 Aquarius 50 Despite the ups and downs in the NASDAQ,
computers and the internet are not going away -- not while Uranus is still
dwelling in its home sign Aquarius. And the War of the Video Game
Boxes will be fought this year between Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64, and
Microsoft's new "X-Box."
A week on either side of May 29 - unexpected changes of plan. Be flexible and watch for opportunities -- this Uranus station is sextile Mars, sextile Venus, and widely trine Jupiter. "If you can keep your head while others around you are losing theirs ...." June 4 - Mercury Retrograde - 29 Gemini 58 Mercury Retrograde in Gemini? Communications and transportation going backwards -- doubled! Mercury will be opposed Mars and Chiron in Sagittarius and only you will have control over whether your words will have a hurtful or healing effect. Same advice as always: think before you speak; not good for new beginnings; be mindful while driving. Mercury goes direct on June 28, 2001 For more on Mercury Retrograde check out:
FULL MOON - June 5, 2001 - 15 Sagittarius 26 - 12.22 a.m. CDT This Full Moon is conjunct Pluto which is at 13 Sagittarius. If Full Moons in general bring out one's emotions, then this Full Moon will bring forth one's deepest emotions. But Pluto can also be a motivator and with the Full Moon can give rise to our deeper goals and ambitions especially in the aspiring sign of Sagittarius. If you get inspired to take action, pursue your goals, but with gentleness toward others who may not perceive your vision. Avoid ultimatums and extremes. Clean house -- whether physically, mentally, emotionally or virtually -- throwing out old junk is always good at Pluto times -- but please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Coming up: Solar Eclipse - June 20th - 0 Cancer *********************
****************************************************************************** On Wednesday, May 16, The Boston Herald
published a column by Boston University Chancellor John Silber that really
blasted astrology and Kepler College, an accredited college in Washington
state that awards both bachelors and masters degrees in Astrology:
Fortunately, there are some very articulate people in the astrological community who have already responded to this (and thanks to starIQ.com for posting them on their site): Rick Levine:
For more information about Kepler College:
Kepler College is the only college of astrology in the western hemisphere authorized to issue BA and MA degrees. The entire curriculum is based on astrology. Kepler's first freshman class began in July 2000. ****************************************************************************** I really enjoyed speaking on astrology and dream interpretation at the Northern Illinois Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research on Wednesday night. Thanks, Barbara, for inviting me! Next month NI-NCGR will have a discussion of the Solstice/Eclipse on Wednesday June 20th, 7:30 p.m. at the Dance Building, 1330 Webford, DesPlaines, IL. Email BJJLibra@aol.com for more info. *****
***** On Wednesday, June 27, at 7 p.m., I will be presenting "Astrology: Your Planets tell Your Story" at the Barrington, IL public library. This will be a basic talk on how the planets in your horoscope reveal your personality, and describe the way you communicate, handle money, pursue career goals, and what romantic types you're attracted to. If you have a friend who lives out that way and who would like to hear more about what astrology is and how it can be used for personal growth, problem solving and creating a positive future, please let them know about this talk. For more information visit: http://www.bal.alibrary.com/
or call (847) 382-1300 (The program is free but registration is required.)
