Practical Guidance with a Spiritual
Perspective

With these three aspects occurring close in time to one another, there's bound to be a noticeable effect. The New Moon in Taurus makes it likely to be something about possessions. Both Neptune and Mercury Retrograde indicate lack of concentration. So it's extra easy to misplace important items. Have a consistent place to put valuable papers. Commitments made at Neptune retrogrades are unlikely to be fulfilled. And it's not a good time for decision making. There's usually some critical piece of information that's missing or flies under the radar of our awareness. How to deal with decisions that absolutely have to be made around this time? The pen is your magic wand. Write down your thoughts and ideas about important issues, and then carefully look over what you've written to see if those thoughts make sense. Talk over your decision with someone you know to be practical. Be particularly cautious with any legal contracts that must be signed. Drive carefully. Mercury rules transportation and Neptune rules fog - both the weather condition and the fogginess of the mind. Make a decision to stay aware each time you get in the car. With Mercury and Neptune trining in air signs, there is good energy for meditation, chanting, affirmation and creativity in the arts -- poetry in particular. MAY 25, 2003 -
SATURN Opposed PLUTO - 16 GEMINI/SAGITTARIUS
Saturn and Pluto continue their tug-of-war between the traditional and the transformative. Whether your struggle is with the government, your boss or your spouse, give the situation just a little more time, before you make your final decision, at least till mid-June. Although this is the last of the exact oppositions, the Solar Eclipse on June 10th conjuncts Saturn and opposes Pluto to trigger it once again. Affirmation:
I transform my life in a harmonious and constructive way. Sanskrit Mantra:
Om shanti, shanti, shanti
JUNE 2, 2002 - URANUS RETROGRADE Stationary point energy is at least a week on either side, so the Uranus retrograde is really part of the combination of Lunar Eclipse and Saturn-Pluto opposition above. Uranus energy is extremely restless, contributing to an overwhelming feeling that a change must be made *now* whether it is wise or not. In general, Uranus station points bring unexpected changes of plan, so flexibility of mind and of schedule will be helpful. With Venus conjuncting Jupiter on this day, maybe you'll be surprised by an invitation to a party or meet an intriguing new friend. *****

IA reader asked me what astrology had to say about the situation in the middle east. Knowing the general transits will give you a clue: the Saturn-Pluto opposition really describes the mid-east crisis well - Saturn as the immovable object and Pluto as the irresistible force show the struggle and the stalemate. Which planet is Israel and which is the Palestinians? They both are. Both claim ancient rights to the land (Saturn). And both are determined to control the other with force (Pluto). We can hope that as this aspect separates, diplomacy will have a greater effect on this situation. But to really use astrology, you need horoscopes
of the countries and people involved. This is difficult in the case
of Yassar Arafat, when even the birthdate is a matter of speculation.
But Lois Rodden decided the issue was important enough to investigate so
she's put several speculative (DD) charts for Arafat on the Astrodatabank
website:

I was talking to someone the other day who, when she found out I was an astrologer, said, "I think it would scare me to know about the future." I've gotten that reaction quite a few times over the years. It would be curious if those same people turned off the weather report during a news show because it's scary to know about the weather tomorrow. I remember reading an essay by Mark Twain in which he talked about steering those big paddlewheel steamboats down the Mississippi River. The riverboat pilots needed to know exactly at which points the currents changed or the channel narrowed. And because the Mississippi moved large amounts of sand and silt, they needed their maps updated on a regular basis so as not to get stuck on a sand bar. Using astrology to forecast the future is a lot like those maps of a river. An astrologer looks at energy patterns, illustrated by the natal horoscope of an individual, compared to the upcoming transits and progressions by which we forecast the future. What we get is not a pattern of fate but more information. This information gives us the ability to make wiser choices and clearer decisions. Closer to home, it's the type of information we'd like to have to show us where all the summer road repair work is going on the Chicago area streets, where we might have to detour, when we're better off staying on the main road, and what time of day would be smoother to take our trip. Doesn't sound so scary to me. How can you, as a beginner, begin to do your own forecasting? Simply find out where the slower moving planets are today and see what house they fall in. For example, Pluto is approximately 16 degrees Sagittarius. What house holds that degree in your chart? Have you been experiencing 'transformations' (positive Pluto keyword) in the area described by that house? Using that information, can you look ahead and think about how you would like to use that transformational energy in that life area? Or check which house the Mercury retrograde (May 15 - 9 Gemini) will fall in. That will give you some ideas about what area of your life you'll have the hardest time keeping organized until Mercury goes direct on June 8th. The books I recommend for astrological forecasting are at: http://www.marciasacks.com/astrologyforecast.htm "All we can do is handle things," a wise old astrologer told me.
