MARCIA'S WEBLOG
news and notes on my everyday and spiritual life

1/25/01 - Thursday

I got a laugh today looking at the "cubicle art" exhibit on Dilbert's site.

1/24/01 - Wednesday

I just joined another webring, this one for people who have both weblogs or "blogs" and journals on their homepages.  It seems I spend a fair amount of time journaling.  I have the two online journals, a dream journal, and "morning pages" ala Julia Cameron in The Artists Way.  For awhile I did those morning pages very regularly, a few years ago when I was taking the twelve week workshop with an email group.  Now I do them when I need them to clear my mind out, whether it's morning or late at night.  I just start writing and go for three pages and let it all out.  That journal is my place to whine and complain about health issues, all the things on my list of things to do, and life in general.  I also use it to analyze my own dreams and astrological aspects.  Whatever comes to mind as I write -- the weather, my messy house, my kids' accomplishments, my goals and dreams.  Sometimes I use it to do the exercises in The Artists Way or other self-help books.  I have a writer's notebook, too, that I carry with me to make notes and ideas on what I'm observing or current writing projects.

The latest issue of Writers Digest had an article about online journals.  I'm fascinated by the phenomena.  All of us at Bluedog Societe basically do personal storytelling in each issue:  reminisces, memoirs, occasional poems, and a lot of journaling of our everyday life.  And I love to surf to a site and read a little bit about someone else's life.  I know I started looking at online journals years ago with Willa and surfing from her links.  I just went to her site now since it's been awhile and it's just gorgeous -- with the journal, two weblogs, and the cool philosophies of the tea leaf readings.  I'm jealous.  I wish I knew more about web design.  I do what I do with Netscape Composer, an HTML editor, and keep it simple.

1/22/01 - Monday

I have a cold, sniffing and chills and all that stuff.  You know I'm desperate when I put Vicks on my nose.  But my Dad says it's the thing to do ;-)

Yes, I'm taking Vitamin C -- I do that anyway -- plus other anti-oxidants like CoQ10 & Grape Seed Extract.  We shop for vites at Fruitful Yield, Whole Foods Market, and Costco.

1/20/01 - Saturday

Found the Magic 8-ball online and added to my links to free readings.  No matter how silly something like that seems, people will take the answers seriously.  And keep asking.  Did you ever see the old Twilight Zone with William Shatner where he can't leave town because the fortune-telling machine in the diner keeps giving him messages?

1/19/01 - Friday

Wrote and emailed out my Astrology Update newsletter.

**************

I think the de-caf at lunch yesterday was really regular caffeinated coffee.  I was so jazzed.  And it wasn't just the afternoon. My mind was spinning all night long -- not too much sleep.  I don't usually  'do' caffeine.  I'm extra-sensitive to its effects.  I felt a lot better after morning meditation.  Then I listened to the new Gayatri Mantra CD I bought at the Temple last week.  It is a very soothing, new age music style, mantra repetition. I felt much more mellow after that.  My friend and fellow disciple Eric Klein composed the music and produced the recording.
