I was going to use "the full moon" for the writing prompt tonight at the Writers Support group. When I left the house, the fog was so thick you couldn't see the end of the block. So the writing prompt tonight was "The Full Moon and the Fog."

With that Full Moon (and its grand cross) on his Venus, President Bush sent his tax cut plan to Congress. Guess he didn't read my astrology newsletter: "You really don't want to provoke a battle under these type of aspects. Mars-Saturn aspects leave scars."

Just
read that the Vatican is about to appoint a patron

I'd known earlier today when my outgoing email wouldn't outgo.
This
guy's gonna get lots of prayers.

Added Allen Edwall's AstrowinFree Astrology and Numerology Software to my links page. Allen used to live here in the Chicago area. I took his class in Horary astrology which was excellent. We had fun trying to solve mysteries and find lost objects.

Is Mercury retrograde? You bet it is. Rich who rarely has to work on weekends is downtown on a service call on a Saturday night. I was whining to the kids about how boring my life is because I'm home with nothing to do and Mike says, "Mom, can we vote you off the island?" So, it's either watch XFL Football or play on the computer, so here I am.

Illuminations.com
One of the things I found the other day was Illuminations, an online candle company that has goddess candles and rituals candles along with regular decorative and scented candles. So I signed up to be an affiliate and I'll be linking to some of the things from the site I think are cool. Please feel free to click thru and browse around. The picture here is the Saraswati - Goddess of Wisdom candle.
Went to the used book sale at the Arlington Heights Library. Rich and I spent about $6.50 between the two of us. Mike came with and filled up a huge bag for maybe $7.00. Hardcovers 50¢/Paperbacks 25¢/Magazines 15¢ - I was picky this time and only got about six books - the prize was an out of print Tarot book. I got a couple of paperback novels I'd been eyeing at the bookstore, and the August 2000 issue of the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. Rich found some records - you know: LPs, vinyl -- he collects them, and he got David a John Cleese video.
This is the best used book sale in the NW suburbs. Every library has them, but AHL is the best. People get numbers in advance and line up before the sale on Friday night which is members only night. Sometimes Rich will go during the day to get a low number, but we didn't this time -- got there about ten minutes before the doors opened and got #'s 171, 172 & 173 for our place in line. Years ago, before they did numbers, fights would break out between people who would line up hours in advance to be first to get in.
When the doors open, people charge in with bags and cartons. There are used book dealers in the crowd and they grab books right and left. The aisles are jammed. People jostle one another. You have to flow with the crowd. Books are spine up on long tables and also in cartons under the tables. Until the crowd thins (after the first hour), it's almost impossible to get to the under the table books. With my knees, it's almost impossible to get under the table books anyway ;-)
These
days, I usually come without an agenda. That allows me to be more
peaceful. I let myself be guided to the right books. One of
the things I look for these days are recent literary magazines -- I've
found Indiana Review
and Granta there.
None this time but I did find a slim Haiku anthology that has the Japanese
(in the western alphabet) and English translation.
